What is dental bonding?

Close up of woman's smileDental bonding is a procedure done when a tooth-colored resin material is applied to a tooth using bonding materials and high-intensity curing light. This kind of bonding is most commonly used for cosmetic or aesthetic purposes to alter the appearance of a chipped tooth or a tooth that may be discolored or fractured and commonly used to repair a decayed tooth. Composite bonding is a cosmetic alternative to amalgam (metallic) fillings, which is a more outdated treatment that may lead to more complications. It can also be used to close spaces between teeth that may have a gap or even to make teeth look longer.
