Our team at Oakwood Dental is deeply concerned for the health and well-being of our patients, our staff and their families. On March 20th, Governor Polis signed and executive order to extend the temporary suspension for elective and non-essential procedures. This includes all voluntary or elective surgeries or procedures, whether medical, dental or veterinary. The new executive order has extended our temporary closure through April 14th.

We will be available to our patients in need of emergency dental care as needed throughout this temporary closure.

Insufficient Jaw Bone Density? Don’t Give Up on Dental Implants!

When you want to replace a missing tooth with a dental implant, one of the first things your dentist will check is your jaw bone density.

If you’ve lost some of your natural teeth, this tooth loss may be affecting the strength of your jaw bone. You need your jaw to be strong enough to support your dental implant for years to come, so it’s crucial that you don’t receive a dental implant that your body isn’t ready for.

Thankfully, there’s a workaround even if your jaw bone density initially seems too low: bone grafting.

Bone Grafting in Castle Rock, CO

If you need a dental implant, but your jaw doesn’t seem up to the task, Dr. Jones or Dr. Zendig can stimulate new bone growth through a procedure referred to as bone grafting.

Dental implants do well in environments with sufficient jaw bone to live in, so it’s our job to make sure your jaw can become strong enough to support your implants permanently.

Bone grafting involves either natural or artificial donor bone. Our Castle Rock dentists surgically place small amounts of this donor bone at the site of your jaw bone, where over the next several months, the donor bone will fuse with your existing jaw bone to strengthen and thicken the area.

Placing Your Dental Implant

Once your bone graft fuses with your jaw bone and the area heals sufficiently, you’re ready to receive your dental implant!

Our bone grafting in Castle Rock, CO allows us to change the structure of your smile underneath the surface so that you can successfully accommodate your new implant. Dental implants are arguably the most reliable type of dental restoration, and your bone graft will only make your implant stronger.
