Oakwood Dental
A Great Dentist

Technology

Technology can make your treatment more accurate and comfortable. At Oakwood Dental, we strive to bring the latest technology to our office as an investment in you and provide you with the best dentistry available. Here are some of the ways we use technology to provide a world-class patient experience. If you want to learn more, contact our Castle Rock dental office.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns

When you need a dental crown, we can provide your entire treatment in our office in a single appointment time without the need for the weeks of wait time associated with using a dental lab.

CEREC eliminates the need for temporary restorations and additional appointments for permanent crown seating. We use CAD/CAM technology and digital impressions to gather the data needed to create a durable ceramic crown that looks and feels great – all in one visit!

3-D CBCT Imaging

3-D cone beam imaging allows precise planning for placement of dental implants for optimal function and esthetics. The latest 3-D cone beam technology takes hundreds of images and then overlays them, providing a 3-D view of your teeth, jaw, bone levels, and sinuses. Dr. Jones oversees each step in the implant process in our office without the need for a referral.

Additionally, we routinely use 3-D cone beam technology to diagnose conditions such as jaw joint dysfunction, cysts, endodontic conditions, and impacted teeth that are not readily visible on 2-D x-rays. This assists with treatment planning and contributes to the success of your procedure.

Flat Screen Monitors in Rooms

Our flat screen monitors in our treatment rooms give our patients a chance to kick back, relax, and enjoy their favorite shows while having dental treatment. We invite you to make a request for your favorite show, or we can recommend something you might enjoy.

Digital Impressions

Patients love our digital impressions because they eliminate the need for gooey impression material. Digital impressions also provide more accurate information because they are not affected by distortion or air bubbles. We simply scan your tooth and upload it into our software, where we translate it into a custom, same-day CEREC crown or bridge.

We also use digital impressions to create clear aligners for Invisalign clear braces treatment, resulting in greater comfort and accuracy.

Digital Records and Charts

Monitoring changes in your oral health is essential to protecting your smile. We keep digital records and charts, including x-rays, periodontal charting, treatment plans, and medical history, allowing us to pull up your information with the click of a button and compare any conditions from one appointment to the next. This also eliminates the need for paper charts where your information is less secure and harder to access.

Digital X-Rays and Sensors

Patient safety is our number one priority. We use digital x-rays and sensors because of their accuracy, high-resolution imaging, and exceptional safety. Digital x-rays emit up to 80 percent less radiation than traditional film x-rays.

As an added bonus, they are easily transferable should a specialist or your insurance company require your information.

Electric Handpieces

One of the things our patients tell us that they dislike most about the dental chair is the sound of the handpieces. Our electric handpieces are quieter and produce less vibration than the previous air-driven handpieces. This means a more relaxing environment for you while you receive your treatment.

Intraoral Camera

An intraoral camera allows us to take high-resolution images inside your mouth. We can take a picture of any area of your mouth, such as part of your gums or palate. We can also snap an image of a single tooth.

Intraoral images allow us to show you exactly what we see, which helps our patients fully understand their dental condition and treatment options. We can also send intraoral images to insurance companies when they require additional documentation for procedures like dental crowns.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry allows our patients to enjoy faster healing and more comfortable dental care. For procedures such as crown preps and periodontal treatment, light energy allows us to perform surgery without the need for cutting tissue. Lasers produce great results through a higher level of precision.

Nitrous Oxide

Some patients experience nervousness or anxiety when it comes to dental work. Our team is friendly, professional, and experienced. We are great at putting patients at ease.

If you need a little additional help relaxing, let us know. We offer the mildest form of sedation dentistry – nitrous oxide sedation. Nitrous oxide enters your system through a small nose mask. Since it wears off quickly, you will be able to drive yourself home from your dental appointment.

Rotary Endodontics

Rotary endodontics provide precision treatment to clean out infected root canals safely and more thoroughly with a reduced risk of complications. Because treatment is faster and quieter, rotary endodontics allow for an improved patient experience.

Panoramic X-Rays

Different x-rays tell us different information about your oral health. A panoramic x-ray shows us the big picture – your teeth, bone, jaw joints, and even sinuses.

We also use a panoramic x-ray, which moves around your head while it captures an image, to give us a full view of your smile. This type of image is helpful in monitoring bone levels, planning extractions, and determining dental implant location. It also gives us a view of your jaw joints.

Panoramic x-rays are in 2-D. We also have 3-D cone beam technology for certain types of treatment and surgeries.
